Staffing and Expression of Interest

August 2024

A key component of the workforce transition is staffing for newly created roles in the Finance and Human Resources Operations Centers and Centers of Expertise. The University is prioritizing providing these opportunities to employees in Phase 2 who are currently doing that work. This staffing approach consists of two pathways: expressing interest via internal transfer, and applying for an open internal position on a central team. What does it mean to express interest, when will new opportunities become available, and who is eligible?

What is Expression of Interest?

On September 9, 2024, the new Finance and Human Resources Operations Center teams began their staffing process to support work moving out of Phase 2 units as part of the PEAK Initiative. This staffing approach consists of two pathways for employees: expressing interest via internal transfer, and applying for an open internal position on a central team.

Expression of Interest (EOI) is the next step in the staffing process following completion of the Responsibility Tracker survey. EOI is the process by which some employees, whose work is significantly impacted by work shifting through PEAK, will be offered the first opportunity to follow the work moving and express interest in a lateral transfer into a central position.

If you choose to express interest, you will not be required to go through a traditional application and interview process, but will need to submit your response via the Qualtrics link by the position deadline. Supervisory positions will close on September 16. Other PEAK positions will close on September 30.

Can I apply for an internal position?

As work begins to shift from local units to the Operation Centers, new positions will be created to support that work. Any University employee, including those that are EOI-eligible, can apply for these positions. However, priority consideration will be given to Phase 2 employees that are impacted by PEAK changes if they apply by the September 30, 2024 priority deadline.

These PEAK specific internal job opportunities are now posted via the University’s internal job posting site

Who is eligible?

Employees that completed the Responsibility Tracker survey as part of the Phase 2 people and work transition were in-scope for expressing interest. Eligibility was determined based on the information collected from employees and their supervisors through the survey process, Finance and HR transactional data within units, and in consultation with college and academic unit Transition Teams and leaders.

Some Phase 2 employees who do not meet eligibility criteria for a transfer, but perform the same or similar tasks to the work that is shifting, will receive preferred consideration for these positions.

Employees received confirmation of their EOI eligibility via email from the PEAK Project Office ([email protected]) on September 5. Those that are eligible for EOI will receive their personalized link via Qualtrics on September 9.

What is the difference between expressing interest and applying for an open position?

  • Expressing interest is a process for learning about and being considered for roles you are eligible to transfer into. Eligible employees will complete an EOI form rather than submit a formal application to be considered, and forgo the traditional interview process.
  • Any employee is welcome to apply to an open position within a central team. Employees who decide to apply for an open internal position will follow the standard University application and interview process. PEAK specific job opportunities will be posted via the University’s internal job posting site beginning September 9, 2024.
  • Priority consideration for these positions will be given to Phase 2 employees that are impacted by PEAK changes if they apply by September 30, 2024.

What if I have work moving to a central team, but am not eligible to express interest?

Some Phase 2 employees who do not meet eligibility criteria for a transfer, but perform the same or similar tasks to the work that is shifting, will receive preferred consideration if they apply to internally posted positions by the September 30, 2024 deadline.

When will I know if I have a job on a central team?

  • The deadline for expression of interest is September 30. Transfer offers will be extended the week of September 30, 2024.
  • For roles that are eligible for EOI, internal candidates who apply before September 30 will be considered after EOI eligible employees accept or decline offered positions. Phase 2 employees impacted by PEAK changes will be considered first.
  • Some roles aren’t eligible for EOI and those applications will be reviewed and considered after the September 30 deadline, in order to offer preferred consideration for Phase 2 employees impacted by PEAK changes.
